You may think cruising is all about laying in the sun with the ocean breeze running through your hair with a cocktail in your hand – and although that’s our idea of a relaxing holiday, we know it might not be yours. Cruise lines love to cater for all guests, and as fitness is very ‘in’ right now they tend to offer many ways of keeping fit onboard. Take a look at our answer to ‘Can you exercise onboard a cruise ship?’.
Every year more and more new features for exercise and fitness are being added to ships. Take a look below at our quick guide to what’s available onboard and what you may need to bring if you’re planning on keeping up your regime at sea.
As you may know, onboard pretty much every ship there is at least one swimming pool. This is probably one of the most accessible features onboard a ship to keep up your fitness. As in a holiday resort, pool activities and classes are held onboard so everyone can get fit whilst having some fun.
Most ships also have leisure facilities where guests can play sports such as basketball and volleyball. Other sports facilities may be available such as shuffle board or mini golf. Many cruise ships now have running tracks onboard available to all guests – whether you love an early morning jog or a 100m sprint.
Generally all ships will offer sporting activities such as basketball, tennis, running, golf and yoga and Pilates classes. You can find out the variety of sports available on your cruise onboard or give us a call and we will be able to fill you in on all the onboard facilities.
It’s also a good idea to bring some gym kit with you if you plan on exercising onboard, as this most likely won’t be available to buy.
