Double Eclipse Announced By Scenic For 2020
After the massive amount of interest worldwide for Scenic’s 6-star Scenic Eclipse the cruise line has announced that it will be joined by a sister ship, which will be called Scenic Eclipse II.
Founder and Chairman of Scenic, Glen Moroney has indicated that expanding Scenic’s ocean fleet was natural progression for the company. “Since we first announced our foray into ocean cruising we have had unprecedented interest in Scenic Eclipse, from guests keen to experience our unique blend of 6-star luxury meets expedition cruising,” he said.
Moroney further added: “The debut of Scenic Eclipse II will not only allow us to expand our offering and pioneer new destinations, such as the Russian Arctic, it will also allow us to continue our passion for innovation in design and innovation in handcrafted itineraries, which we are confident will appeal to a wide variety of guests. Itineraries for the ship’s debut season will be released in April 2018.”
Scenic Eclipse II will launch in 2020 and will undertake her maiden voyage from Athens heading to Lisbon, before her debut season which will see her sailing Europe and the Russian Arctic, which will be well matched by Scenic’s expedition ships.
Building of Eclipse II is set to begin in 2019 in Pula, Croatia where sister ship Eclipse is being constructed at present. The two ships will be a similar design and will consist of 114 all-verandah suites and nine restaurants as well as eight lounges and bars. The ship’s will also have helicopters and submarines.
Scenic Eclipse celebrated a major milestone on 31st January, as she floated out of the shipyard with most of the exterior work completed, which you can see in the video below.
