Saga Reveals Details Of New Ship, Spirit Of Discovery
Saga Cruises has revealed what passengers can expect in terms of dining and drinking onboard its new-build ship, Spirit of Discovery.
The ship, which is currently being built at the Meyer-Werft shipyard in Germany, will debut in 2019 and be able to carry 999 passengers, and Saga have now disclosed what drinkers and diners will be able to enjoy onboard.
The bars will include The Terrace, which is an outdoor drinks area, as well as South Cape Bar, which replicates a high-end hotel style bar, and is named after the same space as Saga Ruby, one of Saga’s favourite ships which is now retired. The South Cape Bar will also be used on some occasions for live sporting events along with a programme of evening entertainment.
The ship will also have two specialty restaurants, one being Coast to Coast, a fish restaurant, which will serve British and locally-sourced fish and shellfish. So whether you want the ‘catch of the day’ simply grilled or pan fried, or have a palette for more adventurous tartare, ceviche and shellfish dishes, all will be on the menu
In addition to Coast to Coast, Spirit of Discovery will also be home to East to West, which is already onboard Saga Sapphire. It will feature a wide range of Asian cuisine and your taste buds will be tantalised by the flavours of the Orient, thanks to an array of authentic dishes and a frequently changing menu.
